About Our Products

Argilla” means Potter’s Clay in Latin and was founded by Willa Krause in 1978.  The factory is situated on a farm outside Pretoria, South Africa.

Argilla is a proudly South African product, known to change the lives of consumers and their families.  It transforms an ordinary meal into a festive, healthy one, prepared quickly and therefore allowing more time to spend with family and friends while it is served directly from oven to the table.

The process created by cooking with Argilla is called steam-roasting, leaving your meat beautifully browned, succulently juicy and tender. Your vegetables will remain crunchy, crisp and full of colour whilst retaining all their nutrients – an offer of perfect health! Just another one of many benefits gained from using the outstanding Argilla product range.

The trademark of handmade pottery is the fact that it has stains or marks.  Each Argilla product is individually made, sponged, waxed and glazed by hand, always leaving a mark or stain when handled.  None of the products look exactly similar and yet our products form a beautiful unity.

All products are individually graded and therefore (although imperfections are synonymous with handmade products) we maintain a very high standard.  Even during the baking process, stains and marks could form because of the different placements in the ovens and the very high temperature of 11800C at which it is baked. The high temperature ensures that we can market a quality, product. See Production Process.

Argilla Pottery should last a lifetime when handled with care according to the Special Instructions.

Argilla products really are handmade works of art which are IMPERFECTLY PERFECT!
